Our Commitment to Families ...

We will provide a clean, safe, loving place for nursery age children.  We stress a well baby nursery for the health of all children and volunteers.  Rooms are cleaned prior to each use.  Parents are   notified if their child’s diaper needed to be changed during the time we cared for the child.  Our facilities are child proofed—no cleaning solvents or chemicals can be reached by children at any time.

Parents are given a pager when they check a child into the nursery.  No child will be released from our facility without the parent’s return, and the return of the documented pager.

A Healthy Environment ...

All toys that have been in contact with a child are cleaned before being used by another child.  Any blanket, bed sheet or face towel that has had contact with a child will be laundered before re-use.  Changing areas are also sanitized between diaper changes to prevent germs from being passed to children.

A healthy, happy nursery environment is very important for families.  To be sure we do not spread infectious viruses or bacteria, we ask that you not admit your child to the nursery if they show any of these symptoms:  Fever, vomiting, discharge in or around eyes, green or yellow runny nose, excessive coughing, diarrhea, rash, or any illness that may be communicable.

  Our Procedures ...

1.  To protect the health of all our babies, we cannot accept a baby who is ill with a cold or fever.

2.  Please put your child’s name on your diaper bag and its contents:  plastic bottle (with enough food to see him or her through the session), diapers, pacifier, etc.  We are happy to bottle feed, but we cannot feed your baby food other than what you bring in a bottle.  Please notify us of any allergies food or otherwise.

3.  Please check your child’s information and inform us of changes as they occur.

4.  Your child may cry when left with us. This reaction is a normal healthy show of preference for parents.  The child’s fussing usually stops within a few minutes and becomes less common with regular attendance.  You will be paged, if your child cries continually for a period of more than 5 minutes.

5.  All parents are required to serve in the nursery area once a month.  When you become a regular attendee here at HCC, we will place you on rotation with other parents.
